Sunset Moth Display

A native of Madagascar, this day-flying moth (Family Uraniidae) presents an impressive spectrum of color.  While wild specimens are protected from collection, these specimen come from a licensed farm that raises them commercially for collectors.  Presented in a 6” X 5” display.

The colorful Sunset Moth (Urania riphaeus) belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Uraniidae. Members of this family are large, brightly colored day-flying moths that resemble butterflies. The genus is distributed throughout the Tropics of both hemispheres.
