Butterfly Metamorphosis Activity Kit

Complete Metamorphosis is one of nature's mysterious wonders -- you have to see it to believe it... and now your students can! Our Metamorphosis kit represents each stage of the butterfly/moth life cycle. From a small egg on a leaf to a caterpillar; and then from a cocoon (which is REAL!) to a beautiful butterfly or moth, young entomologists will be excited to make a metamorphosis card of their own!

Unit Goals and Concepts:

• Know which insects go through complete metamorphosis.
• Develop an understanding of the stages of metamorphosis by making a Metamorphosis Card, complete with a real cocoon.
• Identify the body parts of insects.

Materials Included:

• A real cocoon, leaves, pipe cleaners, stickers and other materials to decorate the Metamorphosis cards.
• Tacky glue.
• Resource materials.
• A baggie for each participant to take his or her project home in.
