Dasypus novemcinctus. The nine-banded, long-nosed armadillo is a species from North, Central and South America. It can be found in many habitats, from rainforests to grasslands. It is an insectivore, meaning it eats mainly insects, but may also eat reptiles and amphibians occasionally. They generally weigh 6 to 14 pounds and are typically 25 to 42 inches in length.
